FW: Maximum city @UTS

From Mike Farley @ UTS: Hi everyone,

my colleague at UTS, Josh Fullan, is once again offering the Maximum City summer program for high school students from July 16-26 (9:30am-3:30pm).  Here is a brief description of the program:

Maximum City partners teachers with experts and professionals in the fields of urban design, architecture, and civic sustainability in order to develop a series of hands-on lessons and authentic learning activities for high school students. The curriculum was first delivered as a pilot program at the University of Toronto Schools (UTS) in the summer of 2011, and will be offered to a broader audience of students this summer at UTS and the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, along with a full day of programming at Evergreen Brick Works. Curriculum developed in the program is shared for in-school use on an ongoing basis.

The cost of the program is $485, but partial and full bursaries are available (the actual cost of the program is quite a bit higher, but Josh has been able to secure outside funding to lower the tuition).  To apply go to: http://maximumcity.ca/students/apply-2012

Last year, 30 students from UTS and Marc Garneau CI participated in this highly successful program.  This year the program is being offered to all high school students and it promises to be even better.

Feel free to pass this on to any students that might be interested.
